Catnip!

Now I’m not a cat person but there’s some ingenuity and recycling going on here that needs to be shared.

Featuring sweet kitten, Paula, mischief maker and all round sweetie.

As you can see, she’s been to the vet.

The security collar she has to prevent her from licking her stitches isn’t very practical.

Soon enough they part company. The collar fixed under the radiator ; the kitten unharmed under the sofa, hiding.

Now what I do know about cats and kittens is that they climb, they wriggle and they maneuver and I know that collars don’t.

So there’s a crafty solution!

adapting a babygro; it just needed a ‘space’ for the tail. One comfy cat and one great solution!

Her stitches should heel in no time!

Nice, and if it works it’s a more pleasant option. We tried that for our Houdini, but he wriggled out. We even converted a t-shirt and mistakenly thought “he’ll never get out of that” – it took no more than five seconds.

Houdini he is then. It worked well. Then the vet loaned them an official version when they went to check the healing.

Nice idea but wouldn’t work with my cats. One of them doesn’t just slip out of collars, she somehow unbuckles them completely! This was the cat who had been home less than four hours after being spayed before she picked the stitches out. If we managed to get her in any form of clothing I suspect we’d look away for a moment and look back to see said garment neatly folded with a hand written note pinned to it reading “try harder, two-legs”.
