At the allotment it’s often a surprise to find something unusual. Generally a pleasant surprise.
But in the first week of November, this one really caught me out.
strawberries
Now I know they’re not ripe. (I’m keep to see if they do ripen indoors.)
But I said November.
The normal strawberry season is April (if you’re lucky) till July depending on the type of plant.
It’s November! It’s 12 degrees now but it’s been exceptionally mild this Autumn.
But it’s November!
There were flowers still too.
Totally bizarre!
Have you noticed anything particularly unusual in your garden this year?

The most bizarre thing in my garden this year is that it’s still growing, given how little attention we’ve given it this year.

We have seen various flowers still in bloom, but November strawberries! Wonderful! I hope they do ripen – maybe the ripe banana trick will work, like with green tomatoes 🙂

They did ripen but shrivelled at the same time.

Well, I was last year at New Year’s Eve in Finnland – it was the first time in the known history of men that there was no snow at this time of year… In Finnland… This year is generally better but still too warm. The strawberries in your picture by the way rather look like these fellow: http://leckerbiss.wordpress.com/2014/08/30/agricultural-innovation/ than ordinary strawberries… cheers!
