I started following our tree in March when I joined this great group. This year has seen one of the best summers in a while in The Netherlands.
We’ve had a bumper harvest at our allotment and the warmest her has been warm dry and mild.
It’s hard to tell what this has done for our tree.
It’s in full leaf I think. And the canopy stretches across the road towards it’s opposite number. It also shades our from garden and the front of our house. Which has been positive for heat if not for light.
The lavender at the base isn’t doing as well with the dry weather and it’s very dry indeed but still tall and bushy.
Today a blackbird was busy hopping through the branches looking for food in the garden below. He’s probably hoping I’ll cut the grass and give him some bugs to forage for.
He wasn’t cooperating with the camera today though.

Good point. The tree is very well and could date back to the 1950s when our house was built.

I hadn’t realised before how big this tree is. That it stretches over the street and gives it shade is very pleasant.

Yes, our Blackbirds always enjoy the grubs after the lawn has been mown … and we have also had a good summer, though all are on the alert for the tail-end of Hurricane Bertha …
