I wrote a list! I had two weeks off! It was useful to try and have some goals.
Here’s how I got on!
Here’s my list.
1. Crochet
In week 1, I started with another sheep. This one will be travelling to England shortly. It went together very well. But then I didn’t finish it…..
2. Cook macarons
First step: find the ingredients. Old eggs, ground almonds, powdered sugar are key apparently. I got as far as getting the ingredients but as I’m not a keen baker that was it. Still it means I’ve got further goals to meet!
3. Finish reading Daniel Deronda
Hmmmmmmm!
4. Look into publishing ebooks
So far I’ve found out a bit more but more work is still needed.
5. Make a film Hooray! One to tick off at last!
Done the film for work. Yippee! Not done the other films. Boo! I’ve been working on my editing skills. It was fun and I learned a lot along the way!
6. Sort out the seedlings Another one bites the dust!
The yellow courgettes, round courgettes, and gherkins are in new bigger quarters. Tomatoes are in their big pots. We have three kinds. Yellow, red and tiny toms. The cabbage family are potted on into bigger pots.
Soya beans, sweet dumpling squash, French beans, sunflower seeds and ying yang beans all soaked and starting off.
Loads more too in the second week! Then we’ve planted some things out. Started some achocha and extra sweet corn after a chicken disaster.
7. Clean out the birds And another one gone!
Chicken house number one is sorted. Then the cupboard under the quail house is also looking good.
8. Tackle the craft room
It’s tidier than it was but needs more work!
9. Meet up with friends And another one gone!
So far made a trip to the tip with a colleague! Met up with others at the beach but it was freezing cold and had dinner with the neighbours. Delivered some rhubarb, did some great craft. And had some great meals out.
10. Go see the Rainbow Warrior II Big highlight
Awesomely, we did. In spite of getting there very late due to transportation problems, the lovely people let us on board. Standing on the deck was amazing! Read all about it here
11. Philemina the film Another one bites the dust!
Seriously moving film. Hundreds of people who suffered as a result of social pressure and perceived shame. It did justice to a very sensitive topic.
And had lunch in a lovely vegetarian place in the town meanwhile.
12. Go to the garden centre not difficult!
Also accomplished but with enthusiasm. Found a suitable chicken proof mini cold frame, more compost for the seedlings and two climbers for the allotment.
13. Dye some clothes And then some!
So I managed to dye a pink skirt, a white top, a ginger top, some unused underwear, and a turquoise ombré vest that had a pink accident in the wash earlier.
I chose antique grey.
Then I went on to the Blue Period. I had a brown skirt with a weird beige panel in the middle section. I wanted to spruce up my favourite turquoise jeans and take a risk with two white garments.
Here’s some of the results!
14. Write my blog I’ve been busy!
Made it to 1000 like and 200 followers. Still posting every day too.
I added a few more tasks too!
15. Suggestion: Sleep!Tick!
I did plenty of that too. Zzzzzzz!
16. Grow mushrooms. only time will tell!
I had a pack of mushroom spores. I’ve tried using kits before with little success. Meanwhile they are expensive. So this time I had to create a manure base first. I used about five kg of garden manure that’s was bagged and dried into pellets. I added water to give if a more moist start. Then I added the spores and mixed thoroughly. The instructions said press down well which I did and then cover with earth and compost mixed together. That’s now in a box in the shed for a few weeks.
17. Tidy out the shed. Another reluctant but well tackled task!
18. Build three arches on the allotment.
Assembled and erected. Sown with nasturtiums and a Passion flower and clematis for the bees.
19. Move a bee colony
This was another good one. Here’s the link!
20. Cut the grass and the hedge. cut and Composted that. Hedge done and added to compost. Grass was wet every time we set out to do it!
21. But more chickens! very simple!
22.clean out the gutters!
23. Attempt to give up shampoo Watch this space!
24. Give up drinking milk More to follow!
25. Try to cycle more Hmmmmmmmmm! We did rock the public transport though!
I think there’s one of two more blog posts to write now. Blimey!
What would you like me to post more about from this list?
Spot the chicken shot!

Dang! You’ve gotten so much done! I feel lazy! Love the chickens! We’re actually planning on getting chickens next year, providing it’s legal *eye roll* and some other things. And good job with the no shampoo! Excellent to hear you’re still working on it! I love the dye job you did, it looks great!

Go chickens, go chickens, go chickens! No poo is going okay. I think it’s two weeks now but I didn’t plan it of course. I’m not sure about it but I’ll keep trying! Thanks : )

I know someone who tried to give up shampoo. She found it was just too difficult.
