Crazy ideas: lemongrass tea

While I was in Crete on a wonderful yoga retreat, one thing that happened at every meal was delicious teas and infusions.

There was rooibos and camomile and mint, all made with dried herbs. There were other less familiar concoctions too. But this was the best.

It looks like a big load of lawn clippings. But it’s much more exciting.

It’s lemongrass.

So when I got home I had a cunning plan.

I went to the grocery store and bought these fellas.

Already, after a few hours in water they are stretching up from the middle. So hopefully they will root and I can enjoy this delicious fragrant tea!

It’s fantastic! Long leaf blades. I’m not big on herbal tea but it was delicious.

I bought lemongrass from the greengrocers for a recipe once a few years ago, but couldn’t figure out how to use it. The recipe wasn’t clear. Help?
… It’s probably better in tea!

If you are cooking with it I normally chop up the tough stalk bit. Then avoid eating those bits when it’s on the plate. It’s like having a bay leaf in it.

Oh good, I thought it seemed inedible, but that I must’ve done something wrong. Shall give it another go now. And the tea!
