The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do.

Food as art and conscience

fruday night in Amsterdam. A special treat for our vegetarian interest.

A five course meal with a theme of water. Food to make you think.

De culinaire Werkplats has been in operation for seven years. The have many food art projects and run a restaurant two evenings a week.

The five course meal has no price tag. The plan is to pay what you think.

The focus on water is intended to create links with water issues in the world.

Wishing wells- a connection between magic and hope, the spiritual and the optimistic. Cast in a coin and make a wish, then collect your food.

A beautiful asparagus ‘well’.

The meal was clever, witty and delicious.

The restaurant has a tap water policy where you fill your own bottle many times. They support  Join the pipe which is connecting people with water world wide.

They’ve been voted best vegetable restaurant in the Benelux!

When you’ve eaten you take your plates to the sink as the food prep area is in the middle of the dining area.

Then for course two we had a reflection on vertical and roof top gardens which are the latest Amsterdam tool for helping to use the rainfall in support of the drainage needs of the city.

Fresh seasonal vegetables.

The main course was the tide line. Inventive onion foam and broad bean falafels.

And two sweet course followed.

It was one of those evenings spent with great company that flew past.

Can’t wait to go again!
