After years of allotmenteering one of my favourite times is when the food starts coming together. And when meals develop, peppered with home grown elements.
This fantastic salad just ‘happened’ that way. It’s full of home grown peas, beetroot leaves and broad beans.
The dressing is made with our own honey.
And these beautiful pink potatoes which are pink inside too were harvested this week. They went well with it. They are small but there’s been so little rain this year that most of our crops are struggling.
The quiche we had with it was made with eggs from our back yard.
And afterwards we had a smoothie with home made elderflower and strawberries.
Delicious!

Yep! Becoming hot! 😃 Weather was weird this year. My roses couldn’t make up their mind to bloom until lately which is weird.☺️

Beetroot leaves are edible? Raw? Is there a particular kind of dressing that goes well with it? Thanks for info. (*sigh* I’ve been throwing them back on the soil.)

Noooooo! You can eat them young raw or steam the older leaves like spinach!

OK, noted. Thanks. I’m going to try that with the next harvest. 😀

You can selectively cut a few leaves while the root continues growing too.

I can’t wait to get to this point. My little mud patch might need a while though.

Without doubt the best time of the year, like the look of those potatoes, what is the variety called?

They are called rote Emma or emmaline here (rote meaning red)
They’re a really pretty colour. We also grow deep purple potatoes.

Many thanks! Choice in Poland is not the same as the UK, so it’s handy to know the names so I can order online. I have put them on the list for next year, thanks again 🙂
