The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do.

Kale Krisp Krazy

The allotment season is getting underway. New plants and seedlings, plans and ideas.

The previous year’s produce has mainly wound down but the exception is the cabbage patch.

Well strictly speaking there’s no cabbages. There were Brussels sprouts, kohl rabi, purple sprouting brocolli and kale.

These plants have survived the winter and peppered our plates with delights through the long winter. Now they need to make way for the potatoes.

So a huge box of cabbage-y things to deal with. I steamed the PSB. Then divided it into batches for the freezer.

Then the kale. Time for that delicious kale chip recipe that we had last year.

Into the dehydrator.

We did eight trays in all!

Do you have a vegetable delight?

Yay! Something more to try with my dehydrator. I’ve saved the recipe and will most likely adapt it to ingredients I have on hand. Thanks for sharing it.

Currently working on clearing out the remaining leeks to make room for main crop potatoes. Any favourite ideas for what to do with them?

Leek and potato soup would be a must. Good for freezing too.

Somehow I’ve managed to go the whole season without making leek and potato soup. So making a big batch and freezing (in meal sized portions, of course) would be a good idea. 🙂
