a year ago I stopped drinking cow’s milk and eating yogurt. I hoped to improve the congestion problems I had. It was impeding my scuba diving and whenever I got a cold or cough it was frustrating.
I also had sinus problems and permanent gunge for want of a better word.
So a year on how has it been?
Amazing!
I had no idea how I would feel and used to really love a glass of milk. Now I wouldn’t drink one if you paid me. I still have the odd bit of cheese and butter but the milk and yoghurt are gone.
Another crazy benefit has been the disappearance of the chronic Hayfever problems that I had since I was a teenager.
Every summer I had daily antihistamine and even more connection for up to five months. Last year I didn’t have any problems at all. It’s been amazing.
Instead
I have nut and soya yogurts and make my own soya yogurt. I’ve still got plenty of calcium in my diet and feel great.
A recent visit to the doctor’s for a chest infection was also less severe than those I’d had in previous years.

I’ve switched from regular milk to lactose free, which has worked well for me. I do limit the amount of cheese I eat, but damn I like the stuff.

I’ve switched from cow’s milk to goat’s milk because it is said to be easier to digest, so I feel it is better than cow’s milk.

Since I can’t get lactose-free yogurt, I do buy goat’s milk yogurt. So far, so good.

Diet change ? – I’ve had way less severe hay fever in the fall allergy season in the past two years. I began making kombucha tea using local honey 2 + years ago.

Helen, my Mum gave up all dairy two years ago after nearly 40 years of severe hay fever. She said it is the best thing she has done. No more antihistamines unless she drinks wines with preservatives.

Wine seems to be a flaw. The dairy makes such a difference.

There are wines made without preservatives but they seem a lot more expensive.

I am vegetarian, but tend scoff at fad diets and such (sorry). However, I have adopted an informal gluten-free diet, and a lot of scary health stuff that even took me to the hospital emergency once has gotten better…I still eat wheat sometimes, and the symptoms come back…only once did I have a severe reaction, and it was because I ate a lot of wheat for a few days.

Apple Cider Vinegar is supposed to be good for allergies/sinus.
