Blogging ….

so I’m excited.

I’ve always posted my blog from my phone. It’s comfortable for me and easy. I take photos with my phone. I water mark them. Then I blog about the photo content. Usually sitting on the couch.

I’m against having to use different tools for different things. I like seamlessness. It’s straightforward.

But

I was very frustrated that it was so hard to tag and name my photos. Doing it from the wordpress app. I ended up doing about 1500 photos in bulk slots laboriously via the website on an iPad. Grrrr!

I left it at that about six months ago.

Slow and fussy.

But there’s good news. In the latest app update they’ve given us a view of the post as we write it that looks as it will when published.

That’s nice.

The photos are on the page.

But

Today I discovered that you can double tap photos and get an edit feature.

Tagging, text labels yeeeeeehaaaar!

Can’t tell you how pleased I am.

That’s the good news.

Unfortunately I now need to go through and do all the photos since my last effort. That’s the bad news.

Oh well.

(And why didn’t it send an update features message about this….or did I miss it?)

How badly do you want absolutely all your photos in old posts to look like what you can do easily now? And will you feel you have to do the same thing when the next update appears? Maybe you can give yourself a break, and only edit old photos that would be useful in _new_ posts. This would leave you more time to enjoy this update, and any future ones that come along, as well as living the sustainable life. Have fun!

It’s more that every photo that has tags is another lead to the blog. It’s good practice too. You’re right though. I’ll see.

I’ve never really got my head around blogging from the app. I think I’m going to give it another go after reading your post. Seens as it sounds that easy!

Plus by using the app there’s not excuse not to blog more is there! Thanks for giving me a nudge hun 🙂

I still blog from my phone, simply because I can grab it quickly and write as the baby naps! But I’ve found that the ‘edit/update’ feature doesn’t seem to work properly since the last update… You have to return to html to allow the update button to work. I’ve commented on this in the app review so maybe if others have the same issue then it will be resolved soon.

I’ll check that one out. I noticed you can’t change scheduled times either.

I find it so tedious to type on a phone! You must be way more skillful than me.

Ach. It’s never been a problem. You must have sausage fingers.

Thanks for this post – I’ve learned something new (ie tagging) which I miss from the days when I used to write from the laptop.

I’ve just had a go but perhaps I’m doing something wrong as I can’t see the words. Oh well, tomorrow is another day…

By not blogging directly from my phone or iPad I’ve set myself up for more complication. Since Windows permanently broke the ability of Photostream to automatically copy my phone photos to my laptop I’ve had to institute a Rube Goldberg system that involves three separate apps and even then it only works if I remember to keep them running all the time. I’ve even resorted to plugging my phone into my laptop and manually copying photos. Feels like ten years ago all over again! I have made some progress toward blogging directly from my iPad but then I still like to use a bluetooth keyboard and I run the photos through another app to resize them. Maybe I’ll look into the latest version of the WordPress app again. Thanks for the heads-up!

Wow, I wouldn’t be able to stand blogging from my phone, it takes me so long to type in it. Admire you for doing that!
