In January there was a challenge to spend a month something out and getting rid of stuff. I didn’t know about it at the beginning but thanks to a facebook friend I decided to go for it in February instead.
The first of Feb works for me. It’s when I started my year of blogging after all. So here’s my first week of disposing.
Day 1
The calendar from the Chinese takeaway. I considered whether this was bad luck but then I decided that declutter ing is very fend shui and if I want a year that has clear decks and a positive energy with less clutter then this is a good way forward.
Day 2
A carpet book mark that I’ve had a long time and never used and a marker pen that I won’t use.
Day 3
A spare set of free headphones (I know we’ve got many more of those!)
Some adapters for various phones for chargers that I have no idea what to do with and a free small car?
Day 4
Some folders, some pens, a pack of pens, and some paper clips. Stuff that’s not really getting used in the house. And then the question of what works as an item on its own or as a set of items.
Day 5
A hole punch (I’m keeping one hole punch but two is really unnecessary), spectacle cases, earth watch brochures, a highlighter, and a ruler.
Day 6
More glasses cases, some blutack, a phone case that we found, a badge holder and a clip for paper.
Day 7
A conker? some glasses, some cute turtles that I’m not sure how to use and a pen and a 3D photo card.
A week in 28 ish items. You may want to know what will happen to them. Basically donation and redirecting them to work. One or two things for the bin too.
Looking forward to week two.

Great thinking! I’m on a de-clutter spree too. What I am finding is that while I de-clutter the place looks like a tip as a variety of things are dug out and then put in a variety of bag for recycling. Anyway it’s great fun too!

Me too! I took a load of stuff to the charity shop yesterday. Still have a long way to go, but progress is being made. I was tempted by this challenge, but I already have a problem with the amount of time I spend blogging rather than doing!

I tend to be driven to do things by the blog though so that’s good! It is a fine balance.

Mind you if I had noted down all the things I had got rid of, then I wouldn’t spend hours looking for them in the future when I have forgotten that I had chucked them out!

That’s a very good point!

We have a drawer full of old cameras and cell phones we can’t seem to part with. We did give an old cell phone to my mother in law when hers broke. so I guess it was worth keeping that one.
As I look around I see so many items no one uses anymore. Some are the kids old books and CDs. Does anyone even use CDs anymore?
I hate tossing something and then finding that I need it soon afterwards!

Because we are avoiding buying new stuff that’s my worry too. But some stuff is really clearly unnecessary.

Agreed. I’m not even sure some of this stuff still works!
