Double the fun at the plot!

Had some great news today. Had to share it.

First there was the bad news. My friend Alison who has a plot next to ours needs to downscale her commitment to the allotment.

But the good news is the committee has said we can have her allotment to. This means that she can continue gardening part of it and we can start using part of it as well.

I’m so pleased that we all benefit from this change and I’m so pleased that we can expand our garden. It’s really great because after a really good year on the plot I would dearly like a little bit more space. I don’t think it’s going to involve too much more work because I already grow enough seedlings, usually too many, and our commitment to the garden has increased because we’re doing so much better now.

Two years ago we had terrible problems with weeds and I was quite ill so it meant that the garden was becoming a chore. Now everything’s changed. We have had a lot more success. The garden itself has developed nicely. And of course the bees are very happy there too.

Because I have a habit of being ambitious about the number of things I’d like to grow and usually quite frustrated that I can’t grow them in big quantities. Now that’s not going to be an issue any more.

This year for example I only had four courgette plants and one of them wasn’t very successful the other three were okay. But ideally if I had had six plants then I think we would’ve had an optimum number.

The garden does also get very crowded with my ambitions.
