Another day; another Cinema

Going to the cinema is a great opportunity to be environmental. Experience over purchasing.

I also enjoy the opportunities we’ve had to explore new places. As a result we’ve found yet another cinema within a short distance of our neighborhood.

I wonder too, whether that means there are many hidden facilities in the local area. I then want to draw attention to these places as they need support.

The latest cinema is in a community centre in the next town. It’s run by forty volunteers. There’s two evening screenings a week.

It has classic tiered seating and a very retro feel. It also has a bar!

What a tremendous local resource!

We watched Jimmy’s Hall there. Funnily one of the themes of the film is the establishment of a local community hall that brings people together.

How very appropriate!

Are there any local facilities in your town that you’re particularly fond of?

Sadly, apart from the local organic farm there isn’t much – the independently run grocer’s in our village has just been taken over by a chain, which was quite upsetting. On the other hand, I heard on the local radio the other day that people are turning against the big supermarkets, so maybe we are about to see a bigger sea change?!

It’s such a shame that local resources are under rated. We still have lots of smaller more local things. It helps keep people independent.

Yes, that could be what people are cottoning onto here – finally!
