A jar full
I posted a while ago about using jam jars for drinking glasses.
I’ve now got a new colleague who has another really good jar idea.
A simple, yet brilliant, idea.
She carries this as a drinking water ‘bottle’. The wide opening allows the addition of refreshing fruits and leaves.
No fancy plastic water bottles, no cost, recycling and a great healthy option.
Look what I’ve got. A big soup jar.
I think I’ll be putting lemon and mint in mine!

Brilliant, no need to worry about BPA or any of that stuff. Also way better for the environment than buying a bottle of mineral water.

I use Mason jars for a zillion things – I use them for drinking glasses, which is really great because my cat will drink water out of any open container, and jars have lids! As the kids got older, my glass supply dwindled and I found mason jars were sturdy enough to survive a drop on the floor – when the kids were gone and I picked up a set of glasses, my friends were disapointed!! They said they’d rather drink out of the jars, that it was an “experience” they associated with my house!
There are all kinds of things I store in jars in the fridge, which is great because I can see what is in it and no spillage. Anything that might get “buggy” goes in jars, too. Also peas, lentils, marshmallows, etc. Anything that comes in a flimsy package that flops around or can use more protection.
Biggest plus – if you’re storing something that can take a little heat, it’s really easy to vacuum seal in hot water!
You can get little gaskets on Amazon that a straw will fit through and drill a hole in the lid…hmmm, maybe that should be a blog post.
