So a few months ago I was keen on Tuesday night programming on The great British Sewing Bee a show about making clothes.
This was followed by a series called the Great Allotment Challenge.
It looks like Tuesday night UK scheduling is all on us.
Tonight’s treat is Hive Alive
The Bee populations of the world have been in the news a lot lately and many people are keen on our involvement in keeping bees.
It’s great to see another source of information. The show has a part 2 next week.
Now I’d like a Tuesday program about crochet please!

I don’t watch TV very often but I switched on especially for this programme last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. My admiration for these astonishing creatures and their sense of communal purpose, diligence and selflessness knows no bounds.

Agh! I swear, you get all the good TV! Although, I keep hearing rumors about an American version of the Sewing Bee. Not sure where that’s at. We got a new DIY called FYI channel here that so far shows some promise, but mostly reruns. Oh, and of course a stupid reality show.

Hahaha, OMG, right? It’s fashionable to be up to your eyeballs in debt around here! Too lazy to have any style or class? You can buy it for the low low price of child labor in other countries!!!! *bald eagle flies past with American flag in its talons as fireworks erupt behind it*

I can’t believe the price tags or the attitudes. Extreme!

I am hoping that they go into some detail on the intelligence of bees. I remember some years ago I was woken around 5 am on a hot sunny summers morning by a very large bee (I assume to have been a queen), who had somehow got itself trapped in the room. The loudness of the hum woke me to see the bee frantically flying in and out toward my face as if telling me it needed help. Getting out of bed, I went toward the window as the bee followed me to open the window. The flying motion got more rapid as it flew up and down against the glass, as though it knew it was soon to be free. It flew away rapidly as soon as I opened the window. Ever since then I have always had the greatest of fondness, and admiration for bees but have always wondered, just how intelligent are they.

That’s an amazing story. I do think they’re very bright. In our hive we endeavour not to squash or harm any bees while we check them.
