The planet is our home; we need to be more responsible. Here's what I do.

Pop to the shop

“We’ve no bread!”
“There’s no toilet paper!”

Quick

Let’s pop to the shop!

It’s a nice day. It’s a short walk.

Go on then.

“We’re going on a milk run,
We’re not scared

20140405-221415.jpg

We’re going on a milk hunt.
We’re going on a milk hunt.
Gonna catch a big one.
Gonna catch a big one.
We’re not scared.
We’re not scared.

It’s a beautiful day.
It’s a beautiful day.

Oh look, geese!
Splishy, splashy geese!
We can’t go over them, we can’t go under them.
Ohhh NO!
We gotta go round them.

Swish swish, swish swish,
Swish swish, swish swish

20140405-221936.jpg

Oh look, a ! A cute black coot.
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Ohhh NO!
We gotta go past it.

Click splash, flash splash.
Click splash, flash splash.

Oh look, bees! Fuzzy buzzy bees.
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Ohhh NO!
We gotta go round it.
Bizz buzz, buzz bizz
Fizz buzz, bizz buzz!

20140405-222345.jpg</a

Oh look, a forest! A tall, tall forest.
We can't go over it, we can't go under it.
Ohhh NO!

20140405-222543.jpg

We gotta go through it.
Stumble trip, stumble trip.
Stumble trip, stumble trip.

Oh look, a jay family! A noisy chirpy jay family
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Ohhh NO!
We gotta go round it.
Screech, chirp, screech chirp,
Screech, chirp, screech chirp,

20140405-222724.jpg

Oh look, a shop! A great big shop.
We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it.
Ohhh NO!
We gotta go in it.
Tip toe, tip toe
Tip toe, tip toe

Oh, what’s that?
Two big cardboard containers
Two big white boxes
One big screw top!

Ahhhhhhhhhh!
It’s the milk!

Quick, back through the shop
Tip toe, tip toe, tip toe, tip toe

Back by the jay’s nest
Screech, chirp, screech chirp,
Back through the forest
Stumble trip, stumble trip, stumble trip, stumble trip

Back past the bees
Bizz, buzz, bizz, buzz!
Back by the coots nest
Splish splash, splish splash, splish splash, splish splash
Back past the geese
Fluffy fluffy, splash splash!

Run to the front door… (tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap)
Open up the front door, argh!
Run inside!
OH WAIT!
We forgot to shut the door.
Back to the door!
Shut the door, plllunk!

And WOOHOOOSH!
WHOOO, we made it!

It’s not easy walking to the shops in this town.

It’s a beautiful day.
It’s a beautiful day.

With big respect to the original ‘going on a bear hunt song’.

It’s a seriously urban place but the Dutch are clever with town planning. I’m going to post more when we walk in a different direction to one of the other local shops. There’s at least four possibilities each with its own cool stuff on the way.

Looking forward to it! The Dutch seem to be able to overcome all challenges.

They are definitely working against the odds. Crazy but good.

Glad you didn’t mind the improvised rewrite. It just sprang to mind!
